NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to preside over the 9th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog on Saturday (July 27), with a primary agenda of strategising India's transformation into a developed nation by 2047, according to a statement released on Friday.


The Governing Council, NITI Aayog’s highest decision-making body, comprises all state chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and several Union ministers. As the chairman of NITI Aayog, PM Modi will lead the discussions aimed at promoting participative governance and enhancing the collaboration between the central and state governments to improve the quality of life in both rural and urban areas by optimising the delivery of government services.


The meeting will discuss on the "Approach Paper for the Vision Document on Viksit Bharat @2047," which outlines the pathway to achieving a developed India by 2047. Detailed deliberations will also focus on the pivotal role of state governments in realising this vision.

In addition, the council will review recommendations from the 3rd National Conference of Chief Secretaries held in December last year.


Five key themes are to be discussed during the conference, which include access to drinking water, electricity quality, healthcare accessibility, educational quality, and land and property digitisation.


Sessions on cybersecurity, the aspirational districts and blocks programme, and the role of artificial intelligence in governance were also prominent topics.


A comprehensive vision document is being crafted to steer India towards a $30 trillion economy by 2047, marking its 100th year of independence. NITI Aayog has been tasked with consolidating 10 sectoral thematic visions into a unified vision for "Viksit Bharat @2047," encompassing economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance.
