Many banks across various states will remain closed on Friday, November 15, 2024, in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announces these holidays, which are observed by both public and private sector banks. The list includes national holidays, state-specific celebrations, and weekends such as the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays. Bank customers are advised to check the holiday list before planning their visit,


Bank Holiday On Guru Nanak Jayanti


On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Karthika Purnima, and Rahas Purnima, banks in several states will remain closed today. Affected states include Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, West Bengal, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Srinagar.


During the Gurpurab bank holiday, customers can continue to manage their financial needs using ATMs, UPI services, and digital banking platforms.

Guru Nanak Gurpurab, also known as Guru Nanak Prakash Utsav, marks the birth of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru and the founder of Sikhism. Revered as one of the most influential spiritual leaders, Guru Nanak’s teachings continue to inspire millions around the world, particularly within the Sikh community.


The celebration honours his birth and highlights his profound teachings of equality, humility, and devotion. Guru Nanak Gurpurab is observed on the full moon day of the month of Katak, which typically falls in October or November, depending on the lunar calendar. The date shifts each year.
