The government slashed the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 30 on Monday. As such, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder stood at Rs 1,646, effective July 1, 2024.






A month earlier on June 1, 2024, the oil marketing companies reduced the prices of the commercial LPG cylinder of 19 kg by Rs 69 per cylinder. The recent cutdown in prices marked the fourth consecutive monthly reduction. Earlier on May 1, the officials reduced the price of the 19 kg LPG cylinder by Rs 19 per cylinder, while the price drop was Rs 30.5 per cylinder on April 1, 2024.


After the latest revision, the price of a 19 kg LPG cylinder now stands at Rs 1,757 per cylinder in Kolkata. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 1,599 per piece, while in Chennai, the price of the commercial LPG cylinder will now be Rs 1,810.50 apiece.


The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) issue revisions in the prices of jet fuel and cooking gas every month on the first day. These revisions are decided on the basis of average price of benchmark global fuel and foreign exchange rates.


At the same time, the government has issued no changes in the price of domestic LPG cylinders used for cooking purposes in households. The price of domestic cooking gas remains at Rs 803 per cylinder in New Delhi, Rs 829 apiece in Kolkata, Rs 818.50 in Chennai, and Rs 802.50 in Mumbai.
