70 per cent of the Indian workforce is dissatisfied with their jobs, according to a recent report from Happiest Places to Work. The report also underscores that even within the same age group, there are significant disparities in levels of job satisfaction. 


This variation suggests that elements such as workplace culture, environment, and individual circumstances play a crucial role in determining overall job happiness, reveals the report, according to the Financial Express.


The study reveals distinct gender and geographical differences in job satisfaction. Women in the eastern and central regions report higher levels of happiness with their jobs, whereas men in the northern region tend to be notably more satisfied. Additionally, among various industries, the Fintech sector stands out as the happiest, while the Real Estate sector is identified as the least satisfied.


“This report provides valuable insights into the current state of workplace happiness in India. The stark differences across demographics and industries serve as a wake-up call for organisations to focus on employee well-being,” said Namrata Tata, director at Happiest Places to Work, in the report.


The report also indicates that 54 per cent of employees are contemplating leaving their current positions. Key factors driving this trend include a lack of personal fulfilment and insufficient support systems. However, employees who are encouraged to pursue personal interests within a supportive work environment are 60 per cent less likely to seek new jobs.


Harsh Goenka, chairman of RPG Group, commented on the findings, stating, “The report highlights an essential fact: happier employees are more productive, more engaged, and more committed to their organisations,” as per the report. 


This trend mainly affects Millennials, with 59 per cent considering a job change. Additionally, the report highlights that 63 per cent of employees face challenges with teamwork due to conflicts, and 62 per cent struggle to voice their opinions openly.
