New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her Budget speech in Parliament on Tuesday said that the government will introduce a master plan for PM Gati Shakti National, a Rs 100-lakh-crore project, for building holistic infrastructure in the country. It received its first-ever outlay of Rs 20,000 crore in the Budget for FY22-23.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity. The master plan is essentially a digital platform that will bring 16 ministries, including roadways and railways together for integrated planning, coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects while providing seamless connectivity for the movement of people, goods, and services from one mode of transport to another.


It will facilitate the last mile connectivity of infrastructure and also reduce travel time for people.


PM Gati Shakti is inclusive development, productivity enhancement, energy transmission, climate action, and financing of investment.







PM Gati Shakti will incorporate the infrastructure schemes of various ministries and state governments such as Bharatmala, Sagarmala, inland waterways, dry and land ports, UDAN etc. Economic zones such as textile clusters, pharmaceutical clusters, defence corridors, electronic parks, industrial corridors, fishing clusters, agri zones will be covered to improve connectivity and make Indian businesses more competitive.


Sitharaman said 400 new generation Vande Bharat trains with better efficiency to be brought in during the next 3 years; 100 PM Gati Shakti Cargo terminals to be developed during next 3 years and implementation of innovative ways for building metro systems.


The FM in her speech said that the highway networks in the country to grow by 25,000 km in FY23.


"We welcome the announcements of Finance Minister pertaining to Logistic sector, GatiShakti Scheme will help in boosting the Logistic sector," said Subodh Garg, the CFO and Growth Leader at Pickrr. 


He said the budget will also have an impetus on technology and IT usage, along with the logistics sector.
