New Delhi: If you have checked Twitter in the last 24 hours, you must have noticed the hashtag #BoycottMillennials trending on the micro-blogging platform. Some rib-tickling memes and tweets like "BHEL is at 15 year low as Millennials prefer panipuri" are doing rounds on the social media platform which is nothing but a sarcastic dig at Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her recent remarks on slowdown in automobile sector. Sitharaman's comments during a press conference triggered a severe consternation on social media today, with users flooding Twitter with the satirical posts with  #BoycottMillennials hashtag, which became a top trend in no time.

It all started on Tuesday, when FM Sitharaman held a press conference where she spoke about the ongoing slowdown in automobile sector. Speaking to reporters, FM said that change in the mindset of millennials is one of the reasons behind the crisis. According to the Finance Minister, the youth of the country prefer to take an Ola or Uber instead of investing in EMIs to buy a personal vehicle.

"Some studies do tell us that mindset of millennials, who are now preferring not to commit an EMI (equated monthly installment) for buying an automobile, instead prefer to take Ola, Uber, everything else, or take the Metro... A whole lot of factors are influencing the automobile sector. We are trying to solve the problem for them," she said.

However, this statement did not go down so well with the millennials and all thanks to social media that they could share their views in the best possible way - memes. Hundreds of sarcastically hilarious tweets have been doing rounds on Twitter. Have a look!
