An individual from Bengaluru recently shared her Uber expenses for the month and shocked everyone with the overall value spent on the ride-hailing app. The woman, named Vanshita Agarwal, shared with Netizens how her expenses on the app came up to more than half of the rent she pays in the Indian tech city.

In a post on the social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, Vanshita said, “I can’t believe my uber expenses are more than half the amount I pay as rent in Bangalore.”

The individual in her post shared how she took 74 rides with Uber in the month so far, as of July 25, and this brought the overall expenses incurred on the app for the user to Rs 16,668.

The post went viral as Netizens expressed angst at the financial burden being placed on individuals working in the city. Users suggested that buying a vehicle is a better option now as the EMIs won’t cost as much as the conveyance fees paid on the apps. While another individual joked on the post and said that the user should get a loyalty card from Uber.

Notably, Bengaluru is infamous for its traffic woes and the resulting surge pricing applied by cab aggregator apps. The city has also seen landlords cutting down rent recently as professionals have started to move away from the IT corridor area to more affordable regions nearby.
