Several regions across India will see bank closures on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in observance of Bakrid, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s official holiday calendar. While the first Saturday of the month typically sees banks operating normally, exceptions have been made in states where Bakrid has been listed as a public holiday.

Bakrid, or Eid al-Adha, is a major Islamic festival and marks a significant event in the Muslim calendar. This year, the festival falls on June 7, aligning with the first Saturday of the month. As a result, banking services in various parts of the country will be temporarily suspended for the day.

States Celebrating Bank Holiday Today

The following cities will observe a bank holiday on June 7, 2025, due to Bakrid: Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad - Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad - Telangana, Imphal, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram.

In contrast, regular banking operations will continue in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, and Itanagar, as these cities have not declared a holiday for Bakrid on the RBI list.

Understanding Bank Closures and Upcoming Holidays

In India, banks operate on the first and third Saturdays of each month and remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays and every Sunday. Customers are encouraged to confirm with their local bank branches before planning in-person visits, especially around public holidays.
