Amazon India announced on Saturday that it plans to cut down its selling fees as the festive season approaches. The company said that it will reduce up to 12 per cent of its fees across several product categories on its website in the upcoming season.
This revision in selling fees will come into effect from September 9, 2024. The move has been talent to help sellers increase their product range on the ecommerce platform, reported PTI citing the firm. This is expected to help Amazon India grow further in the country.
The reduction in the fees will range from 3 to 12 per cent and will massively benefit the sellers on the platform, specifically the ones offering products priced under Rs 500.
Elaborating on the decision, Amit Nanda, Director Selling Partner Services, Amazon India noted, “At Amazon, we are invested in supporting businesses of all sizes, from small and medium businesses to emerging entrepreneurs to established brands. The fee reduction is directly in response to feedback from our sellers, especially small businesses.”
The company further revealed that the decision is being taken ahead of the festive season, however, the changes are not meant to be temporary. “The reduction in fee will give sellers an opportunity to optimise their operations in time for the Diwali shopping rush as well as beyond the festivities.Sellers, particularly those selling affordable products, will experience a significant decrease in fees on Amazon. This will provide them with an opportunity to reinvest in their business for accelerated growth,” the executive explained.
