Gautam Adani-led Adani Data Network has been granted unified licence for access services, which enables it to provide all telecom services across the country, quoting two official sources, the PTI reported on Wednesday.
The conglomerate entered the telecom sector after acquiring spectrum in the recent 5G auction.
According to the PTI report, Adani Data Networks has been granted UL (AS), said an official source, while another official said that the permit was granted on Monday. An e-mail query by the news agency to Adani Group, however, did not elicit any response.
Adani Data Networks Ltd (ADNL), a unit of Adani Enterprises Ltd, acquired the right to use 400MHz of spectrum in the 26GHz millimetre wave band worth Rs 212 crore for 20 years in the recent 5G spectrum auction.
Adani Group had said that it plans to use the airwaves for its data centres as well as the super app it is building to support businesses from electricity distribution to airports, and gas retailing to ports.
"The newly acquired 5G spectrum is expected to help create a unified digital platform that will accelerate the pace and scale of the Adani group's digitisation of its core infrastructure, primary industry and B2C business portfolio," the group had said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises has given on lease 4.64 lakh square feet of space at its data centre in Noida to Raiden Infotech, an entity of Google, for Rs 11 crore monthly rent, according to documents accessed by CRE Matrix.
According to the PTI report, the documents, accessed by the data analytics firm, showed that D C Development Noida Ltd, which is part of Adani Enterprises Ltd, has leased 4,64,460 square feet of space at Adani data centre in Sector-62, Noida for a period of 10 years.
The rental is Rs 235 per square feet per month. The starting annual rent is Rs 130.89 crore and there will be 1 per cent increase in the rental every year. The lease agreement was signed last month, the documents showed.
In February 2021, Adani Enterprises had formed an equal joint venture with leading global data centre operator EdgeConneX to develop and operate data centres throughout India. To start with, the JV had announced building a network of hyperscale data centres in India, starting with Chennai, Navi Mumbai, Noida, Vizag, and Hyderabad.
In July 2021, Noida Authority had allotted 34,275 square metres land at Sector 62 to Adani Enterprises for setting up a data centre with an investment of around Rs 2,400 crore.
