Did you know that also the address on your Aadhaar card can be updated both offline and online?
There are 41 exclusive Aadhaar Seva Kendra and around 8,000 Aadhaar Kendra across the country offer online appointments for Aadhaar enrolment/ update. However, if you are unable to visit the centre for updating the address, just visit the website online and make the change.
According to a recent tweet by the authority, the address in Aadhaar can be easily updated online. "You can easily update your address in Aadhaar online. All you need is your registered mobile number to receive the OTP for login and a colored scan of an address proof in your name," UIDAI said.
Know the documents you need to possess for updating address
There are almost 44 documents that can serve as a valid address proof which includes passport, bank statement or passbook, rent agreement, driving license, telephone bill, electricity bill, water bill, voter ID card among others.
It is important to note only those whose mobile numbers have been registered with UIDAI will be able to process the change.
Know the steps to update address online
1) The first step is to login at UIDAI's website here Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal
2) You should have a valid address proof as mentioned above and then click on ‘Proceed to Update Address’.
3) In absence of valid address proof, you just click on “Request for Address Validation Letter"
4) Just type the 12-digit Aadhaar number or 16-digit number Virtual ID.
5) The next step is to enter the Captcha.
6) Then simply press the ‘Send OTP’, which will be sent to your registered mobile number.
7) You can also use the Time-based One-time Password (TOTP) feature to process the change
8) Just press on the ‘Login’ button.
9) Then you will be prompted to click on ‘Update Address via Address Proof’ or ‘Update Address Via Secret Code’.
10) Just fill in the details that need to be updated.
11) You need to upload original coloured scanned copies of address proof documents.
12) In the final step submit the request and note the Update Request Number (URN) for tracking the status of your Aadhaar.
