India has decided to take a quantum leap, seeking to capitalise on the surging and shifting global semiconductor landscape by attracting investments to manufacture the critical chips. While the semiconductor manufacturing sector in India is at a nascent stage, the government has lined up incentives to encourage the private sector to set up fabrication units, also called fabs. The push comes as certain global companies plan to diversify their supply chains away from China.
