Why Congress Has Its Eyes Set On Muslim-Dominated Dhubri Seat In Assam

The Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency, situated in the Lower Assam division, is one of the four seats in the northeastern state of Assam that will vote on May 7 in the third phase. Since the first Lok Sabha elections of 1951-52, this seat, dominated by Muslims, has always sent a Muslim representative to the lower house. Although the Praja Socialist Party won this seat in the first two elections, it was continuously represented by the Congress from 1971 to 2009. The seat flipped in 2009 when the All
