Volkswagen might have just recently launched its Taigun compact SUV but that has not stopped it for readying another new SUV for the Indian market. The next product from Volkswagen is the new Tiguan premium SUV and it continues its plan of launching four SUVs for this year. Before its 7th December launch, Volkswagen has also begun assembly for the new Tiguan at its Aurangabad plant in India.

This is the facelifted Tiguan and brings extensive tweaks to the exteriors and the interiors. The exterior looks sharper with a changed bumper, grille, and headlamps while new 18inch alloy wheels would also be there.

The Tiguan is a smaller 5-seater version while the All-space is the bigger three-row version. The interior has also been changed with a new look along with additions like a panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, a bigger touchscreen, three-zone climate control, leather seats, ambient lighting, and more. In terms of safety, the new Tiguan will have  6-airbags, ABS, ESP, ASR, EDL, Auto-hold, hill start assist & hill descent control, TPMS, 3 headrests at rear, 3-point seat belts, ISOFIX feature and Driver Alert System.

The biggest change from the earlier Tiguan is the engine as it is now a petrol-only SUV with no diesel engine available. The new Tiguan will have a 2.0L TSI turbo petrol engine which will develop 190PS and 320 Nm of torque. It will also have a 4MOTION all-wheel drive and a 7-speed DSG transmission with paddle shifts. The Tiguan will compete with new midsize premium SUVs like the Hyundai Tucson and the Jeep Compass plus more.
