New Delhi: Toyota has teased its upcoming reveal of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV in India. We will get to see this SUV on the 1st of July. In terms of size, it will sit above the Urban Cruiser subcompact SUV and compete with the Creta in terms of size. The teaser reveals a slim DRL attached to a two-part grille along with headlamps below. The Hyryder will also have typical SUV styling cues like roof rails and cladding plus a skid plate. 17-inch wheels would be seen on the top-end variant too. Like in the image shown, we can expect dual-tone colour options and single tone ones of course.

The Hyryder will have a different look to the Maruti SUV and this product has been developed together being different from the usual practice of Maruti badged Toyotas. Production will start in August at the Toyota plant with Maruti providing the mild hybrid powertrain and Toyota providing the full hybrid powertrain.

The video shows a hybrid badge and the engine would be a 1.5l petrol along with an electric motor with both regen modes plus an EV mode like any proper hybrid. Expect features like a 360 degree camera, HUD, 9inch touch screen, powered drivers seat, sunroof and more including connected car tech. Safety features would include 6 airbags and ESC plus more.

There would be a 6-speed automatic and a manual gearbox too. After the Etios, this is the first developed for India Toyota SUV and with Maruti, Toyota now wants to dominate the compact SUV segment which has the most volumes currently. We expect prices to be revealed at the September launch while this would be a reveal. Do stay tuned for all the updates leading up-to the reveal of the SUV with Maruti also showing its own version three weeks later.
