New Delhi: The first electric motorcycle, the Tork Kratos, will start getting delivered from the month of April in Pune City.

The ex-showroom price of this new electric motorcycle is Rs 1,92,499 (ex-showroom, Pune). This is before subsidies and after applying them, it comes down to Rs 1.22 lakh. That is the price for the entry level Kratos variant as a more powerful version, Kratos R is pricier at Rs 2.07 lakh before subsidy.

The standard version gets a 7.5kW output or more than 10bhp while the R variant has 9kW of power. The 4kWH lithium-ion battery pack has a claimed range of 180km while it is IP67 certified. That said, expect around 120km plus in the real world with eco mode on.

The R variant also has fast charging capability which means a 0-80 percent charge in an hour.

For the money, you can get other conventional motorcycles else the electric powered scooters are a possible alternative. One difference between Tork and other new players is that the motor and battery pack are built in-house which explains why it took a long time for the motorcycle to get to the market. That is a different strategy to other players who have come faster to the market but with external vendors.

The company wants to expand operations and move to different cities in terms of presence.

Currently the electric scooter space is getting crowded but the electric motorcycle space is still new with Bengaluru based Oben getting its Rorr electric bike other than Tork of course.

While electric scooter sales have shown a massive increase, only time will tell if the same will happen with electric bikes as well.
