Turbo petrols are now proving to be quite popular in India but there are not many of them below Rs 10 lakh with most entry level SUvs having a naturally aspirated engine while only their top-end trims have a turbo petrol. A turbo petrol engine brings in more performance without the cost of fuel efficiency too. Here are the top 3.

Tata Nexon

The Nexon remains one of the most popular sub4m SUVs and in its new avatar it is a big hit. Tata Motors have also adjusted the prices recently and the Nexon remains great value for the starting trims too. The engine in the Nexon petrol is a 1.2l turbo unit which develops 120bhp and 170Nm while making one of the most powerful cars available at this price point. The entry level variants of the Nexon also come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. We recommend the Smart and the Pure variants.

Mahindra XUV 3XO

The latest launch from Mahindra has raced to a record number of bookings and one of the key reasons for its success is the aggressive pricing. The XUV 3XO starts from Rs 7.4 lakh while the lower variants comes with a less powerful iteration of its 1.2l turbo petrol unit. It develops 111bhp and comes with the MX1, MX2 PRO, MX3 and AX5 variants. We recommend the MX3 here.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx

The Fronx comes with a turbo petrol too and is the only Maruti Suzuki to come with one. The turbo unit develops 100bhp and comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. That said for the variants costing below Rs 10 lakh, you will have to settle for the manual only. You can get the Delta Plus Turbo model which falls below in this price bracket.
