Tata will reveal its Punch SUV on the 4th of next month but thanks to images floating on various social media we have got a good understanding of how the car will actually look on the road. We have seen images of the Tata Punch being revealed along with the interior but these are the first images of the car on road. The Punch to recap is the smaller SUV based below the Nexon but it will not be much smaller.

With a length of 3,840mm, the Punch is not that small plus is bigger than other hatchbacks at this price. In terms of design, the Punch is a proper SUV with thick cladding all around plus roof rails while the Harrier-like front end will no doubt appeal to many car buyers.

The interiors are different looking too while some of the details are shared with the Altroz and that is not surprising since it shares its platform with the premium hatchback too. The Punch has the 90-degree door opening feature alongside the same touchscreen plus the part digital instrument cluster.  Expect a decent list of features and no cost-cutting which means climate control, steering controls, 16-inch alloy wheels, etc. This article is also about the price of the Punch and Tata Motors is planning to undercut every SUV on sale with a price tag starting below Rs 5 lakh.

Just like every Tata car, the variants will read as XE, XM, XT, XT (A), XZ, XZ (O), XZ (A). The fully loaded AMT variant is expected to just cross Rs 8 lakh.  Alongside the 1.2l petrol engine, the Punch will get an AMT option along with a manual gearbox too. With these expected prices, the Punch seems to have created its own segment of micro SUVs above the likes of the Maruti Ignis or the S-Presso. More details in the coming days.
