The new Tata Nexon internal combustion engine (ICE ) version has bagged 5 stars in the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP) safety rating and has received 32.22/34 points for adult occupant protection. It also received a 5-star rating with 44.52/49 points for child occupant protection from the Global NCAP.

The test was conducted on the Nexon facelift launched in September 2023 with petrol and diesel engines only. However, Nexon EV has not been tested under the BNCAP yet. The EV version could be tested later, considering its popularity among buyers as it is also the best-selling EV in India.
Along with a strong structure, safety features are important and it is crucial to check for these when choosing your next car. Carmakers have taken safety seriously and are making more and more safety features standard. The Nexon, for example, gets six airbags, ESC, seat belt reminders, and ISOFIX restraints as standard, while other safety features include a 360-degree camera, a blind view monitor, front parking sensors and more.

The standard basic safety features have also helped the Nexon gain this 5-star rating and a lot of other cars also get some of these safety features. To get a 5-star rating, manufacturers now offer more features. It needs to be said that although 6 airbags are not mandatory, car-makers are including them for base variants upwards in compact SUVs. Hence, while comfort and convenience features are also ranking high for the car buyer, safety has now crept up in terms of buyer awareness and we recommend buying a car with a minimum of 6 airbags and various safety features as standard.
