The new Nexon EV facelift can be termed as a new car because of the updates but it is also important to compare it with the earlier Nexon EV Max. The EV Max was the most potent version of the earlier Nexon armed with the highest range and the updated equipment list while now the new Nexon EV gets a massive overhaul in many of the areas. Let us take a look.

Exterior

The new Nexon is slightly longer than the earlier EV Max while design-wise, the new look has a clear differentiation when compared to the petrol/diesel Nexon. Unlike the Max which had blue accents, the new Nexon gets a different aerodynamics-inspired bumper and a coloured faux grille. There is a difference between the ICE Nexon and the EV, unlike the Nexon EV Max. You will also see full-width LED lighting which is also EV-specific along with wheels with aero inserts. It has a .ev badge now with the new branding.

Interior

The Max got quite a few updates later in the production life cycle and the Dark edition had the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen. Now though, Tata put the focus on the Nexon EV and has differentiated it further from the ICE versions. There is a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen which is exclusive to the new Nexon EV unlike the Nexon EV Max earlier, while there is also a dedicated app suite which enables you to watch movies while the car is charging. There is also a new touch panel in the Nexon EV and a gear selector. Like the Nexon ICE, the Nexon EV now gets features like a 360-degree camera with a blind view monitor. The regen mode selection has been moved to the steering paddle shifters in the Nexon EV.

Range and performance

The new Nexon EV gets a new battery now which is 20kg lighter and also uses less rare earth metals. It also has better cooling and improved battery management over the earlier Nexon EV. To further increase the range, the new Nexon EV comes with low rolling resistance tyres too. The power on offer with the new Nexon EV is 145 and 215Nm which is less torque than the Max at 143bhp and 250Nm. In terms of range, there is an improvement too despite the same size battery pack at 465km vs. 453km of the Max. Other changes are a 150km/h top speed and the introduction of V2V and V2L features.
