New Delhi: Skoda has started production of the Slavia in India at its plant in Chakan, Pune.
As reported earlier by us, the Slavia is the second product from the INDIA 2.0 project and is expected to be launched in the month of March.
The Slavia will replace the Rapid but is a much more premium product and aimed at a segment higher.
The Slavia will come with a 1.0 litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol and 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol, making 85kW (115ps) and 110kW (150PS) respectively and will come with a choice of either a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic or 7-speed DSG transmission.
The Slavia comes with a big 521-litre boot capacity while the spacious interiors along with the size make it a sedan from the segment above.
The sedan would be launched with three variant options: Active, Ambition and Style with a pretty high equipment list expected from the ground up base variant. From the Ambition trim upwards, the touch-control Climatronic with Air Care function comes as standard, while comfort features such as ventilated front seats upholstered in leather are available for the top-end Style variant.
Further features included connected car technology, an electric sunroof and a rearview camera.
A crucial factor that tilts in favour of Slavia is its high localization level of up to 95% localization, which brings down the overall cost of ownership along with having the ability to be priced competitively.
We will bring more news on the price to the launch details along with a drive review in the near future leading to the launch. Stay tuned.
