Skoda will unveil its sub-compact SUV, the Kylaq in India on November 6 and as expected, the launch will take place next year. The Kylaq means crystal in Sanskrit and will come with a turbo petrol engine. Just like on the Kushaq, the Kylaq with the 1.0 litre TSI is expected to produce 115 bhp and 178 Nm.
This engine would be paired to a standard 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Compared to the Kushaq, the styling would be different with a new look design language while the interiors would be slightly differently styled too. The Kylaq would get split headlamps and a new grille for example. In terms of features it would mirror the Kushaq with a sunroof, connected car tech, digital dials etc However, the Kylaq will get features like a 360 degree camera and ADAS too.

The touchscreen size would be the same but the Kylaq will have a smaller wheelbase than the Kushaq being under 4m which means it will have less space. That said, the Kylaq will be aggressively styled over the Kushaq while equipment levels might eclipse it also. Where there would be a big difference would be the engine as the Kushaq additionally has a 1.5 TSI turbo petrol with a DSG while the Kylaq will get a single 1.0 unit only. It will also be built for export but later after a launch in our market.
The Kylaq will have a lot of competition with rivals ranging from the Maruti Brezza which is petrol only to the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra 3XO and the Tata Nexon plus the Kia Sonet as well. Pricing and other details would be revealed next year while on 6th November we will know how the Kylaq looks and the features on offer. The Kylaq would be priced much lower than the Kushaq also as Skoda will apply keen pricing to meet segment standards and compete with rivals.
