The upcoming Range Rover Electric promises to be the most luxurious EV and is the first electric offering from the Land Rover stables. It is based on the current Range Rover platform but features an 800v architecture, while the official range, plus the battery pack details, has not been revealed yet.
The off-road ability of the Range Rover would be on par with the petrol or diesel offerings. Batteries and electric drive units will be assembled at JLR’s new Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. Land Rover states that Range Rover Electric's performance will be similar to the V8 Range Rover, meaning power will exceed 500bhp. Prototypes of the Range Rover Electric have been built, and pre-order books are open.

Other revealed features for the Range Rover Electric include software-over-the-air updates. The styling will resemble the petrol or diesel Range Rover but will showcase new details specific to the EV, such as a potentially blanked-off grille, different aero efficient wheels, and other distinctive features.
The India launch of the electric Range Rover is expected next year after its global unveiling. In terms of competition, the electric Range Rover aims to rival the Mercedes EQS Maybach, which is the current sole competitor, so to speak.
The electric Range Rover might be more expensive than the petrol or diesel models, positioned at a premium and would be placed at a premium but the increased refinement of an EV powertrain would sit well with the luxury character of a Range Rover.
We also expect the electric Range Rover to be available with long wheelbase variants which could also be offered for the Indian market.
