The Verna has been around for a long time with many generations while the latest one takes a big leap in terms of new features, design and added technology. In this article we compare the old vs the new Verna and see how things have changed. The Verna has been the midsize sedan for Hyundai and it did get numerous changes but a new generation model like the current one is probably the biggest one yet.

Dimensions

The new Verna has a length of 4535mm while the old Verna was much smaller with a length of 4440mm. The new Verna is also wider at 1765mm while the old one comes in at 1729mm. The same can be crucially said for the wheelbase which brings a more spacious interior too. The old Verna had a wheelbase of 2600mm while the new Verna has 2670mm. The same can be said for the ground clearance which is 170mm for the new and 165mm for the old.

Features

The previous Verna came with features like sunroof, connected car tech, touchscreen, climate control and more. The new Verna adds way more features with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with more connected car tech, heated/cooled seats with ventilation, sunroof, 64 colour ambient lighting and more. Of course then there are the ADAS Level 2 features which were also not present on the earlier Verna.

Engine options

The new Verna gets a 1.5l turbo petrol motor with 160bhp and that is a huge upgrade from the earlier 1.0 turbo which the previous Verna had. The other engine is a 1.5l petrol with CVT/manual options which continues to remain the same with the old and new Verna. Another change is that the new Verna no longer has a diesel engine.

Prices

The new Verna starts from Rs 10.8 lakh while the top-end version is just below Rs 18 lakh while in all factors, the new Verna is a huge leap forward and takes a more aggressive fight to its rival more than the previous one. It is better looking, bigger, more spacious and feature rich while making the Verna badge more stronger now.
