Electric Vehicles seem to be on a discounting spree. After heavy discounts by MG Motor, the EV market is witnessing slashed prices from Tata Motors. The Indian carmaker has slashed prices across its entire range of cars.

Hence, the Nexon.ev now starts at Rs 14.49 lakh, while the long-range Nexon.ev, with a claimed range of 465 km, now starts at Rs. 16.99 lakh. Prices of its most affordable electric vehicle, the Tiago.ev now starts at Rs. 7.99 Lakh.

For the Nexon EV, the top-end versions are seeing a massive price cut of over Rs 1 lakh, while the base and above-base versions have received a discount of around Rs 25,000. The LR or the Long Range versions see a massive price cut compared to the cheaper MR version.

In the Tiago EV, the base variant sees a larger drop in price while the top-end has a lesser price drop, unlike the Nexon EV. This price drop is because of the battery cell prices being reduced and having been passed on to the buyer.

The recently launched Punch EV does not get any reduction in price as it is only for the Nexon and Tiago EV. The Nexon EV was relaunched last year with a new look and more features along with a new motor while the range also increased. This move follows other players within the EV space cutting prices for their products too like MG Motor which also brought down the Comet starting price to under Rs 7 lakh while Mahindra also made the XUV400 EV Pro more affordable with an update being launched. These price cuts would fuel more demand and interest with battery cell prices softening.
