Deliveries for the 911 Carrera are expected to start by the end of this year. The hybrid powertrain is available with the GTS which is more performance oriented while the Carrera comes with a more powerful 3.0-litre twin-turbo boxer engine. Other changes include an updated design with more aerodynamics, a new interior which also gets various changes plus more connectivity.
The hybrid for the GTS has been inspired from motor racing. Here, there is a new electric turbocharger with the electric motor developing 15PS. The 3.6-litre boxer engine is also new and develops 57 kW (485 PS) and 570 Nm of torque while the total output is 398 kW (541 PS) and 610 Nm. That means there is an increase of 61 PS with weight increasing to 51kgs.
The gearbox on offer is an 8-speed PDK. As mentioned earlier, the 911 Carrera continues with the twin turbo 3.0-litre boxer engine which develops 290 kW (394 PS), along with maximum torque of 450 Nm. Suspension is also new with rear axle steering now offered while the GTS gets sports suspension. The new 911 also gets model specific design bumpers with GTS getting five vertically arranged active cooling air flaps plus a sport exhaust also. Elsewhere, the 911 now offers HD matrix LEDs while the controls are moved around to the steering wheel now plus a full digital display.
There is also now a start button in the 911. The new 911 then gets small updates but the hybrid powertrain is the crucial one.
