Maruti Suzuki has launched the new generation Swift in India with a starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh. The top-end model being the automatic variant meanwhile is priced at Rs 9.64 lakh. The talking points here include new styling, more features and more standard safety features too. The variant list includes LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+ while the car is now available with nine colour options.

Styling wise, the new Swift is a clear evolution of the earlier model but with some clear differences in terms of the new grille, new headlamps and a bumper. There are also new alloy wheels and a revised rear styling as well while now the rear door handle is placed differently rather than being on the C-Pillar like earlier.

The new Swift is slightly longer but narrower along with being taller than the earlier model. The wheelbase remains the same as the earlier generation Swift while the same goes for the boot space on offer.

The interior on the other hand gets a new look with a revised centre console thanks to a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system plus with the vents being placed below along with new climate control toggles.

The instrument cluster is also updated mildly as well while the features list now includes connected car technology, a rear camera, 6 airbags as standard plus ESC, climate control, wireless charging, Arkamys sound system, rear AC vents, Type C charging port etc.

The engine is also all new with being a 3 cylinder unit with less power but with more efficiency than before with 82bhp and 112Nm.

Mileage on offer has also gone up with the claimed fuel efficiency number now being 25.72 kmpl, which is 3kmpl more than before.

The new Swift would be sold across the Arena dealerships like before with rivals being the Hyundai Nios hatchback and the Tata Tiago.
