Bajaj launched its new Chetak 35 series scooter in India with a price of Rs 1.2 lakh for the mid variant while the top-end variant is Rs 1.27 lakh. The new Chetak gets many improvements in its 35 Series with more storage space thanks to the larger 35 litre boot capacity with the relocation of the battery. The electric scooter has a 4kW permanent magnet motor with a top-speed of 73 kmph.
Battery And Other Features
The battery pack is 3.5kWh with now being lighter than before along with more range at 153km. With a 950W charger, it would take three hours to charge from 0-80 per cent. The looks are very much the same and that's the key appeal of this scooter while there are tweaks like headlamp, LED tail-lamp and new turn indicator. The seat is longer and it has a more spacious floorboard area thanks to a longer wheelbase by 80mm. In terms of new features, the Bajaj Chetak 35 series in the top-end 3501 trim gets new touchscreen TFT with geo fencing, integrated maps, music control and more. There is also an alert for overspeeding.
Market Competition
With the new generation Chetak, things have been improved considerably and it is now a more feature rich scooter to take on its rivals from Ather and Ola especially. It is a more rounded version and will aim to increase its sales further in this fiercely contested electric scooter space. More than 3 lakh Chetak EVs have been sold over the past few months with increased sales over its competition.
