Audi has launched its new luxury SUV for India- the new Q5 at a starting price of Rs 58.9 lakh. The Q5 is an important SUV since the earlier model formed a large chunk of its SUV sales in India. The new Q5 gets a massive change in terms of its exterior and interiors plus a petrol engine. The new Q5 now comes with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, TFSI turbo petrol motor which develops 249 HP and 370 Nm of torque. Standard is a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox.

There is Quattro of course, along with having a suspension with damping control on all four wheels. The design also gets more aggressive with a larger single-frame grille with vertical struts, newly redesigned bumpers, and new 19inch wheels (S-design). In short, the new Q5 looks sportier than the earlier model- especially with these new wheels.

Inside, the biggest change is the new bigger touchscreen which is 10.1inch, and also getting the latest Audi infotainment system. There is the Audi virtual cockpit also there along with features like a B&O Premium 3D Sound System, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with driver memory, 3 zone climate control, Audi Park Assist, Comfort key with the sensor-controlled boot-lid operation, wireless charging, 8 airbags and more.

The new Q5 is offered in two variants– Premium Plus and Technology while the bookings were opened some time back at Rs 2 lakh. With the new Q5, the sales volumes for Audi should increase since it is placed at the heart of the popular midsize luxury SUV space. The Q5 is just the start as Audi plans to launch a lot more new models including the new Q7 also- which has been also a popular SUV in its previous generation avatars.
