This is the new Volkswagen Tiguan and it is the new generation model which brings in a big jump in terms of space or luxury. This is an all new model and given the fact that the Tiguan has been part of the India line-up of Volkswagen for a long time, we do expect this new model to come here as well although it is too early to say when it will come. Globally, the new Tiguan deliveries will start from 2024.
This is the third generation model and wears a sharper look which is also influenced by the ID range of VWs with a slim headlamp design along with a larger intake. It is based on the MQB evo platform and the length of this SUV has increased by three centimetres. There are new LED lights, bigger 20 inch wheels and a horizontal LED strip which is new.
Inside, it is a lot more digital focussed with a huge new touchscreen and it is all about touch controls than physical buttons. There is a new digital instrument cluster and the tablet-like centre screen is upto 15-inches.
There is also a new multifunction driving experience switch with integrated OLED display along with a new infotainment system. There is also a new heads-up display, a new voice assistant, four-way lumbar adjustment and massage function plus more. There is also a new gear selector in the form of a steering column switch. The new Tiguan has mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, diesels and turbo petrols. The new engine is a mild hybrid 1.5 TSI while other powertrains get detailed updates.
The plug-in has an electric only range of 500km too with a DSG automatic gearbox. More ADAS features and tech has been added along with a Park Assist Pro with remote parking.
The new Tiguan is sharper looking while being more luxurious along with having more engine options including hybrid. In India, the new Tiguan can come as a CBU although the hybrids make a lot of sense for our market.
