MG will soon launch the Cloud EV in India and it is being billed as a CUV or a crossover utility vehicle. The Cloud will slot in below the ZS and above the Comet in India. It would be its EV launch for this year and the most important aspect is the price which we think would be aggressive and would be around the same ballpark as the Nexon EV.
By that we mean around a sub Rs 20 lakh price bracket is what we expect for this crossover. The MG Cloud is a crossover and will be a 5-seater vehicle but offer more space on the inside with its EV underpinnings. It is a futuristic design while it will get details like flush door handles plus a light bar and 18 inch wheels.
The Cloud has a length of 4295 mm and a wheelbase of 2700 mm while the luggage space on the inside is 1,707l. The interior is also different but the talking point is a huge 15.6 inch touchscreen plus front seats that can fully recline.
The range is 460 km and the battery pack is a Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) type. The electric motor meanwhile develops 134hp and 200Nm. While MG will try to keep the prices competitive by localising the battery pack, we expect high equipment levels for the MG Cloud with dual powered seats, ADAS, a 360 degree camera, a smart tailgate and more.
The ADAS suite of features for the Cloud overseas includes Adaptive Cruise, Lane Recognition, Safe Distance and Braking Assistance, and Automatic Light while the India spec features list is yet to be confirmed of course. The MG Cloud CUV would be priced below the ZS while its unique shape will no doubt be a talking point when launched.
