New Delhi: MG has launched its Astor compact SUV in India. The Astor is priced at Rs 9.78 lakh starting while the top-end version is Rs 16.78 lakh. These prices are introductory.
The Astor is the fourth launch for MG in India after the Hector, ZS EV and Gloster. The Astor is powered by two petrol engines at launch with the range starter being a 1.5l petrol with 110hp while the more powerful version happens to be a turbo petrol 1.3l at 140hp.

The 1.5l has either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an 8-speed CVT automatic. The turbo petrol only comes with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. There is no diesel engine on offer with the Astor. The variant list of the Astor is divided into Style, Super, Smart Std, Smart, Sharp Std, Sharp, Savvy and Savvy Red.
There are also three coloured upholstery choices on offer. In terms of features, the Astor will offer leatherette upholstery, digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree rearview camera, a panoramic sunroof, driving modes, heated ORVMs, connected car tech with a Jio eSIm plus features like a digital car key, inbuilt apps and other services, a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat and 27 standard safety features.
Also as said before the Astor will have ADAS features in terms of autonomous level 2 technology with cameras and radars (optional).
Finally, the other stand out feature is the AI assistant which shows expressions and talks to you along with executing in-car functions like opening the sunroof. The Astor will compete with rivals ranging from the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun to the Skoda Kushaq.
