MG Motor could showcase their MG 5 premium sedan on the 20th of this month and along with that also reveal its future plans for our market. The M5 is a large premium sedan that sits at the premium segment and is a competitor to the likes of the Toyota Corolla and the Skoda Octavia- segment which does not exist in India anymore.

The MG 5 though looks sharp and quite appealing with a sloping rear styling with coupe like proportions.

The front though has an angular look with a large grille. The styling is like the compact luxury sedans like the CLA with tight proportions while it has a good amount of space with a 401 litre boot capacity. There are a couple of 1.5l turbo and naturally aspirated petrol engines with CVT plus a dual clutch transmission.

Equipment levels are generous with a 360 degree camera, sunroof, digital instrument cluster and much more. There is leather upholstery and the rear seat seems to have a decent amount of room.

The MG 5 could be an interesting car for India but MG has not confirmed while more details could be revealed at its unveil on the 20th of this month. With JSW on board, MG Motor will bring in a raft of products and develop an aggressive strategy to complete its range while also increasing its electrified portfolio.

As per the agreement signed, JSW has a 35 per cent share in the Indian JV operations while SAIC's global portfolio will be used to expand its India range with new cars. While sedan sales are dwindling, the sharp MG 5 could do decent numbers while also adding to the premium car range of MG.
