Mercedes-Benz has sold 5,412 cars in India between the period of January and March 2024 with a 15 per cent sales growth. This along with the yearly numbers of 18,123 units suggests that the appetite for luxury cars has increased in India, especially of the top-end cars. The SUVs continue to form the majority of the sales comprising 60 per cent of the total sales volume in India with the GLE especially.

That said, the E-Class continues to be one of their most popular cars with the current version selling out earlier than the launch of the new one which is due at the end of the year. Waiting period for some of its SUVs is also quite high with as much as a year waiting to a few months.

As said before, 25 per cent of its cars sold belong to the higher-end 1.5 crore category. EVs are also a focus with EVs growing more than double. Going forward Mercedes-Benz will sell more EVs with 3 of them lined up for this year, including the EQS Maybach luxury EV.

The Maybach brand is the top end brand which currently comprises of the GLS and S-Class with the first electric product being the EQS SUV. Mercedes-Benz will also launch a mix of new cars, SUVs and will also launch more performance focussed cars including the new C63 and the S63 amongst other cars. The C63 is an electrified AMG and is a performance sedan which will return to India in its new generation avatar.
