Matter, a technology start-up has revealed its upcoming electric motorcycle and it is also India’s first geared electric motorbike. The bike has an integrated, high-energy density, 5 kWh Power Pack and it has been developed in-house. It is also the first liquid-cooled electric two-wheeler battery pack.

The talking point is the Hypershift manual gearbox where a 10.5kW electric motor is paired with a sequential manual transmission.

The battery pack is bigger than both of the current electric motorcycles including Tork and Oben. Expect a range of about 150km.

The motorcycle is both standard and fast charging compatible and comes standard with a standard onboard 1kW Intelligent Charger. The onboard charger can charge the vehicle in less than 5 hours.

The design is edgy and is similar to a naked motorcycle while some of the details include a bi-functional LED projector headlamp, split LED tail lamps, body-integrated front turn signals, a translucent shroud and an exposed spinner attached to the motor.

In terms of technology on board, there is a touch-enabled 7-inch Vehicle Instrument Cluster with 4G Android connectivity, a connected mobile application with remote commands etc. Other features include live location tracking, and vehicle health monitoring and provide the rider with personalised ride statistics, charging status, and push navigation. There is also a keyless entry along with a reverse feature. In terms of safety, there are front/rear disc brakes with ABS.

The name of this motorcycle has not been revealed and neither have the prices been told to the media. But, expect it to be competitive while bookings along with launch prices would be out by early next year.

There is a lot of buzz in the electric two-wheeler space and here is another entrant in that segment. Stay tuned for more information on this new motorcycle leading up to its launch early next year.
