The future product strategy seems to be embracing both EVs and hybrids for Maruti Suzuki. India's biggest car-maker is currently working on a plethora of products across various price brackets. This includes affordable EVs and hybrids. Currently, Maruti Suzuki has a product portfolio which includes two full strong hybrid cars but that will increase in the next few years while it will also increase its EV range.

The first of these products would be an EV of course with the eVX production electric SUV set for an India debut early next year. This would be their first EV for the Indian market and would be in the competitive compact SUV space. However, it would also launch a new hybrid SUV which is a three row version of the Grand Vitara which also has a strong hybrid powertrain.

Not just in the SUV segment as the car-maker plans to have more hybrids across a lower price range which would make them more affordable. Strong hybrids will make for a large chunk of sales for Maruti Suzuki hence there will be more coming.

By 2030, Maruti Suzuki could have a product range which would be 25 per cent hybrid while 15 per cent would be EVs too. Hence, in terms of EVs, more affordable ones other than the eVX could also be planned for our market which could also include the small eWX electric hatchback which if introduced could be its more affordable electric hatchback.

The eWX EV comes with a 230km range and will compete with the likes of the Tata Tiago EV. Other than SUV and hatchback body styles, it will also look to maintain its MPV leadership with a rumoured electric MPV to sit along with the Ertiga. Hence, the next few years are going to be quite interesting with an array of new products from Maruti Suzuki.
