Maruti Suzuki is readying its eVX electric SUV and it would be its first electric car too. The eVX was seen as a concept car at the last Auto Expo but this is the sighting of a prototype testing in closer to production form. The dimensions of the concept have changed but the basic styling has remained and the eVX looks quite sporty in terms of being a compact SUV. The styling represents a combination of the Fronx and some of the Grand Vitara styling cues while it would be roughly around the size of a Grand Vitara too. The rear door handle seems to be positioned on the c-pillar. It will get sharp headlamps and a closed-off grille while getting muscular wheel arches. The interior though reveals more details which include a powered driver’s seat and twin screens joined together- things we do not see in the current Maruti cars.
There is a round gear selector and it will get regen modes as well. Expect a panoramic sunroof too. The eVX would be a premium Maruti and would most likely be sold across Nexa dealerships. As revealed at the Auto Expo, the eVX will get a large 60kWh battery pack and it will have a high claimed range of 550km. That would make it one of the most efficient EVs and get more range than other Evs at this price point. It will also have a dual motor layout which brings in all-wheel drive.
We expect a launch by 2025 and it will be a premium product above the Grand Vitara, hence expect a price range between Rs 20-25 lakh. This EV would be made in Gujarat and is a key model for Maruti in also expanding its Nexa portfolio.
