Maruti Suzuki has globally revealed its first EV and it is called e Vitara while being the production spec version of the e VX concept seen in India at the last Auto Expo.
The e Vitara for India might be called with a different name but design wise it retains the basic concept look while being an above 4m SUV.
With a length of 4275mm, the e Vitara looks distinctive and different from the Grand Vitara with a different Heartect-e platform. This means shorter overhangs and a more spacious interior.
Unveiled in Milan, the e Vitara has sharp DRLs and a blanked off grille while the top-end version has 19-inch alloys with 18s being standard plus there is a lot cladding at the front too.
Also see the previous Swift like door handles being placed on the C-Pillar itself. The interior though is the most luxurious that we have seen on a Maruti Suzuki yet with a different dashboard design altogether. There is a new two spoke steering wheel, a twin screen layout and a new drive selector.
There is a flat floor too and it has a generous 2700mm wheelbase. The battery packs on offer are also interesting with the standard version having a single front motor and a 49 kWh battery pack with 142 bhp/189Nm.
There is a larger 61kwh battery pack with dual motors with 180bhp/300Nm. The 61kwh battery pack also comes with a single motor making 171bhp. Plus the e Vitara is 4WD with the ALLGRIP-e system driven by two independent eAxles.
Production will start at the Suzuki Motor Gujarat in India in spring 2025 and it will possibly be one of the most premium Maruti cars being retailed via the Nexa sales outlets.
There would be other markets where the car would be exported too as well and it will rival the Curvv EV form Tata, BE from Mahindra and the Creta EV from Hyundai.
