The latest one is the Scorpio N Z8 Select which makes the Z8 range more accessible being placed above the Z6 and below the Z8. The range starts from the petrol manual which is Rs 16.9 lakh while the petrol automatic is Rs 18.4 lakh. The Scorpio N Z8 Select is roughly a lakh to lakh and a half cheaper than the Z8. While you also pay around Rs 70,000 to Rs 1.4 lakh more over the Z6.
Styling wise the Z8 Select does not look like a 'lower' variant of the Z8 range and looks as good as any top-end Scorpio N. The new midnight black colour looks good and so do the 17-inch diamond cut alloys. Inside, at first glance it looks like the standard Scorpio N also with a clever mix of features.
Yes, there is no dual zone climate control or a push button start, power folding mirrors or auto headlamps. But, you get the basics like a sunroof, the 8inch touchscreen with connected car tech, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6 airbags, rear disc brakes and more.
Hence, it covers the basics well and some of the feature deletions are not deal breakers but it does miss out on some features which you may expect at this price. The 2.2l diesel is clearly the highlight since it offers fantastic refinement along with a lot of power plus the diesel has drive modes too- Zip, Zap and Zoom.
Like the all variants of the Scorpio N, the steering is light which makes it easy to drive in the city despite the size plus it feels tough along with a huge change in the ride plus handling. The diesel is the highlight here and of course the looks along with the size at this money. Hence, if you are fine with a few features taken off, the Z8 Select seems to be the best value Scorpio N variant right now.
