The Scorpio is an iconic product for Mahindra and it remains its most valued brand. The Scorpio story started more than 20 years back when in June 2002 it launched the original first-generation model being developed from the ground up with a new platform plus modern interiors along with new features for that time. The first generation Scorpio had the trademark classic lines which is somewhat also seen on the Scorpio Classic today. The Scorpio first came with a 2.6l diesel engine and a petrol while years later it used to get continuous updates.

It received an automatic transmission for the first time plus new safety features. In 2014 came the second generation model which was a major revamp with all new body panels plus new features being added. It was also the launch of the 2.2L mHawk diesel engine while the next update saw it getting a major power boost with even more features being added to the mix.

This update again made it better to drive and more comfortable with more features while its rugged DNA stayed the same. In June of last year came the biggest-ever revolution to the brand in the shape of the Scorpio N.

This was taking the Scorpio in a new direction in terms of being a rugged but premium SUV. It was built on a new platform plus had a powerful petrol engine along with a diesel plus automatic options in both.

The interiors are far more luxurious and it gets more premium features. Not surprisingly the new Scorpio N got off to a great start with massive bookings in a few minutes. Hence, the Scorpio N today commands a high waiting period.

It is a large body-on-frame SUV at a price point that no other SUV offering such credentials comes at. Then Mahindra also kept the original Scorpio intact with the Scorpio Classic. With the Scorpio brand achieving a production milestone of 900,000 units, it seems the popularity will continue onwards.
