Engine oil is very important for the good conditioning of your bike.  If the engine oil is good, then it benefits and accelerates both the performance and life of the engine.  Currently, there are many varieties of engine oils available in the market, but it becomes difficult at times to choose the right lubricant. Different types of engine oils are recommended for every engine. We will tell you how to choose the right oil.

Know the different types of engine oil

There are generally three types of engine oils available in the market. These include Mineral oil, Semi-synthetic oil and Fully synthetic oil. These three oils have different grades.   You can get information about the grade of engine oil for your vehicle either from the dealership of the vehicle company or from the booklet of the vehicle.

Mineral engine oil

  • This is refined petroleum oil.

  • It is used in most cars and bikes.

  • It provides adequate lubrication and protection to secure against heat generated by friction.

  • It works better at normal temperatures.

  • It does not work in very cold or very hot temperatures.

  • It is cheaper as compared to semi-synthetic or fully synthetic oil.

Semi-synthetic oil

  • It is an oil that is a combination of mineral and synthetic.

  • In this, a small amount of synthetic oil is mixed with mineral oil.

  • Due to this the quality of the oil increases but the price does not increase much.

  • It gives good viscosity even at low temperatures.

  • It gives good resistance in high temperatures.

  • Though it is better than mineral oil but not better than fully synthetic oil.

Fully synthetic oil

  • It is known for its excellent lubrication.

  • Its performance is also superb.

  • Vehicles with fully synthetic engine oil are also able to give more mileage.

  • It also works well at maximum and minimum temperatures.

  • This oil is more expensive than the other two oils.

Keep these things in mind:
Apart from these, some other engine oils are also available in the market. If we want to know more about the performance of these engine oils, then it can be found out from their viscosity grade. Low viscosity means that the oil is thinner and will accommodate the engine faster. Higher viscosity means the oil is heavy and will take up space gradually in the engine.
