Kia has launched a new top-end variant of the Sonet and it is called Sonet X-Line. The X-Line now sits above the GT Line and gets some cosmetic updates. The biggest highlight is the Matte Graphite Exterior colour while some other bits like the grille are now finished in gloss black along with the fog lamp enclosures plus the door mirrors too.
There is an X-line emblem, grey brake callipers, black skid plate and muffler design. Of course, it gets new Crystal Cut Alloys with Black High Gloss (R16 - 40.64 cm (16”).
Inside, the Sonet gets leatherette Sports Seats with Orange Stitching along with, of course, the X-Line logo. Even the Leatherette wrapped D-cut steering wheel comes with Orange Stitching. The headliner is also all black.
As mentioned earlier, this new variant sits above the GT and is placed atop the current top variant GTX+ 1.0 T-GDi with 7DCT and 1.5-litre CRDi with 6AT. Hence, unlike other lower variants, the Sonet with this variant is only available with the 7-speed DCT automatic with paddle shifters along with the 1.0l turbo petrol engine while the 1.5l diesel with the 6-speed automatic is also there.
The Sonet is of course the only one offering the combination of diesel and an automatic in this segment.
The Seltos already offers the X-LIne and the Sonet now also gets this trim while bookings have started. The equipment levels are unchanged and it continues to get features like a sunroof, drive modes, front/rear parking sensors, six airbags, ventilated seats and more.
The Sonet continues to rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza/ Toyota Urban Cruiser too.
