The EV6 has been the start of the EV game from Kia and it is also developing a full-sized electric SUV called the EV9. That is due to be revealed next year and would be a big luxury EV SUV. The EV9 would be based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) which already underpins the EV6 from Kia. The EV9 though would be a proper SUV with a 4WD system

From these images, the EV9 would be a big and boxy kind of SUV while also having some Seltos-like lines on the car. A concept showing the design earlier gave a teaser of what to expect including a blanked-off grille and slim LED lamps. It will also come with distinctive EV-like wheels and have a large dual motor battery set-up for a near 500km range or more. The EV9 would be a premium SUV placed above the EV6.

The interior borrows a lot of unique styling cues including a massive 27-inch screen display and loads of safety/driver assistance technology added in. There would also be sustainable materials being used for the cabin.

With Kia tasting success in India, the EV9 could be an interesting addition in terms of getting a limited allocation batch for India as an import just like the EV6. The first batch of EV6 has sold out in India with more units being allocated.

Electric cars are slowly taking off in India, particularly in the luxury space, and with these looks along with a big range claim, the EV9 could act as a flagship after the EV6 in India.

Currently, Kia has plans to show a concept electric car for India along with launching the updated new Seltos with lots of crucial changes. The new Seltos will be coming in around the 2023 Auto Expo with a reveal planned for during that period while we expect the launch to happen later.
