Jeep India has confirmed that its next product for India would be called the Meridian, something which was long . The Meridian would be its 7-seater SUV being positioned above the Compass. Jeep has also confirmed that the SUV would be launched around mid of 2022 which means its launch is a few months away.
The Meridian is based on the Compass platform but the Meridian would be longer and bigger in being able to have the extra third row seats. The Meridian would be a 7-seater along with a longer wheelbase/longer doors over the Compass. The image shown does not reveal a lot of the design but the sheer length, front bumper design plus strong character lines can be seen.
We also expect new design headlamps and a bigger upright stance while still maintaining the typical Jeep design language including the grille design. Inside, like the Compass facelift, we expect the 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats along with being powered, a massive panoramic sunroof, connected car technology and more features since the Meridian is a more premium product in its positioning.
Jeep has not confirmed any other details but we also expect a more powerful version of the 2.0l diesel with a standard 9-speed automatic gearbox while 4x4 would also be standard since that is central to the Jeep brand. We will know more details closer to its launch but expect this new 7-seater SUV to rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster to the Skoda Kodiaq in the premium 7 seater SUV space.
