Hyundai Venue N Line: The N Line brand currently has the i20 and that has started off nicely with enthusiasts getting the only performance focused option at this price bracket. Now, Hyundai wants to increase the appeal of this sub-brand further with the Venue N Line. N Line stands for performance focused versions that is not just about styling modifications but suspension and exhaust upgrades too. The Venue gets the same changes as the i20 N Line while in the process being a sporty offering for those who like driving along with wanting something different in terms of a subcompact SUV.


Hyundai Venue N Line: Design 


Before we get to the driving part, it sure does look different from the standard Venue with the N Line design details being added in. There are lots of N Line badges, a dark chrome grille, a tailgate spoiler along with red highlights on the bumper, roof rails, side sill and the fender. Further on, there are new 16-inch diamond cut alloys with N branding as well. You can also see the front brake caliper painted red. The design upgrades add a sporty touch and goes along well with the car without being too much.




The interior also has a high quality look with the new steering wheel which we like more along with loads of red highlights with all-black look. There is a new gear shifter while the seats have a sporty look as well.


Hyundai Venue N Line: Specifications  


However, the Venue N Line is all about the driving experience hence, let's get straight into it. The engine is the same 1.0l turbo petrol with 120bhp and 172Nm along and only being available with a 7-speed DCT automatic. But, the differences go beyond sheer numbers as Hyundai have considerably changed the character of the car. It is way more loud than the standard Venue with its dual exhaust having a loud exhaust note- which isn't so noisy as to get unwanted attention but it is loud enough to plant a smile on your face when you head out for a drive.




That along with a heavier steering gives the driver more confidence around corners along with a stiffer suspension. The steering gives you more information in terms of providing better feedback plus there is an improvement in terms of reducing body roll or even being rock solid at high speeds. That said, the stiffer suspension has not affected ground clearance or the ride quality as it is well suited for our roads but the Venue N Line has a sharper ride which enthusiasts will like.




The motor has enough punch so as to not have the feeling of wanting more power and importantly the braking performance has improved over the standard Venue as well. It's not that the standard Venue was lacking in terms of driving excitement but the Venue N Line is a sharp change in making this an enjoyable car to drive. Yet, you can drive the Venue N Line everyday with decent fuel economy and the fact that it is an SUV also makes it practical.




The new 7-speed DCT is smooth and slicker while presence of drive modes including Sport makes more sense with the N Line.


So, the Venue N Line is not some special edition with hardly any real change as it is a proper updated performance SUV with the exhaust, suspension and driving experience in particular making it a more desirable car over the standard Venue. The N Line Venue will then appeal to those who want something fun to drive but also practical to live with.
