Typically micro SUVs do not get a sunroof and it is mostly seen on SUVs above that segment. However, Hyundai has put in a lot of features on its upcoming small SUV, the Exter. The Exter will get a sunroof which can be opened with a voice command and that is something no other SUV in its class has. Called the 'Smart Electric sunroof' the Exter will open its sunroof by responding to voice commands like “Open Sunroof” or “I want to see the sky”.

It is a single pane sunroof and certainly is a talking point of this small SUV. The other big feature which Hyundai has revealed about the Exter is the Dashcam with Dual Camera. The dashcam includes front and rear Camera, a 5.84 cm (2.31”) LCD Display, Smartphone app-based connectivity and Multiple Recording Modes.

There are also multiple recording options like Driving (Normal), Event (Safety) and Vacation (Time lapse). Bookings for the Exter have begun and the SUV will come with a 1.2l petrol engine along with an AMT automatic and a manual gearbox as standard. There is also a CNG option with the Exter. If we talk about the launch date for this SUV, then the Exter will launch on the 10th of July. In terms of the variants on offer, the Exter will be available in EX, S, SX, SX(O) and SX(O) Connect.

The Exter will be the entry level SUV from Hyundai and would complete the line-up along with the Venue in the sub 4m SUV space. The Exter will compete with rivals like the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger. That said with a sunroof, the Exter stands out amongst all others right now in its class.
