Hyundai after having recently launched a new special edition based on the Exter has now launched the CNG version of its smallest SUV. The Exter CNG also has the dual cylinder configuration. Prices for the CNG version start at Rs 8.5 lakh.

In terms of the details, the CNG version comes with the S, SX and Exter Knight SX and this 1.2 l Bi-Fuel (Petrol with CNG) engine comes paired with 5 Speed Manual Transmission. Having a company fitted CNG system, it has a 3 years warranty. Other details include the Hy-CNG Duo having a fuel efficiency of 27.1 Km/kg (ARAI Tested). As is the norm with company fitted CNG cars, the Integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU) means that you can shift from petrol to CNG and vice versa.

The dual cylinder feature means boot space is not hampered in the process- a normal issue with CNG cars. Interestingly, aside from the Exter Hy-CNG Duo, the EXTER Hy-CNG with a single cylinder will also be available. The dual cylinders have a tank capacity of 60l and power is 69PS. The feature list includes an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) etc.

The top-end dual cylinder Knight SX version comes in at Rs 9.3 lakh. These days, company fitted CNG cars are having the dual cylinder tech which increases boot space and it is also positioned at a more practical location. While the Exter CNG is down on power, the CNG version would bring in more sales for those looking at saving costs. The Exter CNG will rival the likes of the Tata Punch CNG.
