New Delhi: Hyundai has added a new gearbox option with the Creta and it is a clutchless manual or an iMT. The iMT is already there with the Venue and the i20 while now it is available with the popular Creta as well.

The iMT will join the CVT, DCT and the torque converter gearbox options available with the Creta alongside the manual gearbox of course.

The iMT is intended to give another option for buyers who currently are seeing a long waiting period for the Creta DCT or CVT petrol.

The iMT is available with the 1.5l petrol only though, unlike the DCT which is available with the turbo 1.4l petrol. Hence, buyers can now choose between the CVT and the iMT gearbox with the Creta 1.5l petrol engine.

The iMT version is only available with one trim and is priced at Rs 12.68 lakh. That means it carries a small premium of about Rs 20,000 over the manual 1.5. The iMT basically requires you to drive the car like a manual, yet without needing to use the clutch as the car will do it for you.

There is also the Creta Knight Edition with a blacked-out look with various parts of the exterior painted black or finished in gloss black. Unlike the standard Creta, even the C pillar garnish is now black along with black alloys. The same theme is carried over to the inside with also contrast stitching and the centre console getting a gloss black look.

This special edition is only available with the 1.5l petrol and diesel while not available with the flagship top-spec 1.4l turbo petrol. The only other SUV equipped with an iMT in this segment is the Kia Seltos.
