Alcazar is the three-row SUV that is positioned below the Tucson and above the Creta. Now, Hyundai has updated the Alcazar with a new petrol engine while also providing some updates. The biggest highlight is the inclusion of the new turbo petrol unit which replaces the 1.4-litre turbo which had been there across the Hyundai range earlier. However, the Alcazar when launched did not get that engine instead, it came with a 2.0-litre petrol.
With a more powerful 1.5l turbo unit, the Alcazar also gets that engine.
The new 1.5 T-GDi develops 160PS and 253Nm while being RDE-compliant E20 fuel ready. The new turbo petrol comes with a 7-speed DCT dual-clutch automatic which replaces the earlier torque converter which was there with the 2.0l petrol Alcazar.
The 1.5l turbo unit also has a 6-speed manual as standard. In terms of efficiency, the DCT 1.5L turbo delivers 18kmpl while the manual delivers 17.5 kmpl. Other than this petrol engine, the Alcazar gets an RDE compliant 1.5-litre diesel CRDi engine which makes 116PS and 250Nm. The diesel engined Alcazar is efficient too.
In addition to this, the Alcazar gets a redesigned front grille and puddle lamps while ISG (Idle Stop & Go) as well as Side Airbag & Curtain Airbag are present across trims, thus offering a total of 6-Airbags as standard.
In terms of rivals, the Alcazar petrol has the Hector Plus as its main competitor along with the likes of the Mahindra XUV700 turbo petrol. The new turbo petrol will make the Alcazar more efficient and give more power along with low-end torque-necessary for a three row SUV. The 6 and 7-seater versions continue for the Alcazar as well. The new Verna and the Creta are expected to get this new 1.5l turbo petrol too in various states of tune.
