Citroen has revealed the specifications of its eC3 in India and the electric version is the next step after launching the petrol C3 last year. The electric C3 gets a 29.2kWh battery pack and has a claimed range of 320km per charge. The electric motor makes 57 bhp and 143 Nm with a front axle-mounted electric motor with two driving modes-eco and standard while also getting regenerative braking.




The eC3 is compliant with DC fast charging and it can juice up in 57 minutes. With a standard charger, the charging time is 10-100 % in 10.5 hours. The range figure is higher than the Tiago EV which is the only rival for the eC3 at this point in the entry-level EV space. Design-wise, the eC3 is similar to the petrol-powered version with a charging port being the change along with no tailpipes being visible too.

Inside, the electric C3 gets a new gear selector in place of the standard manual gearbox on the petrol version. The equipment list contains wireless smartphone connectivity and a 10-inch touchscreen while it also gets a four-speaker audio system amongst others. The electric C3 gets a dedicated app for charging or locating a charging station which is important for any EV owner with respect to charging stations.

The arrival of more mainstream EVs will boost sales and will add more buyers who earlier could not afford an electric car. Currently, Tata Motors has the majority of the cars available in the sub-Rs 20 lakh range in terms of EVs but more would be expected to be added soon. The prices of the eC3 would be revealed shortly too.
